Our Hong Kong Story Series by OHKF — Dialogue with Olderigo Fantacci: Strengthening Asia’s Business Hub; Expanding Europe–Asia Cross-Border Investment
[11 June 2026, Hong Kong] — Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF) organised a cultural dialogue under the “Our Hong Kong Story” series, exploring Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an international financial and commercial hub through the inspiring journeys of expatriate business leaders in the city.
The event featured a strong lineup, with Mr Olderigo Fantacci, Advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation and Retired Partner of Deloitte Asia Pacific International Core of Excellence (AP ICE), as the keynote speaker, who later joined the subsequent panel discussion moderated by Mr Francesco Vitali, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao. The other panellists included Mr Giulio Gubert, Deputy Consul-General, Italian Consulate in Hong Kong; Mr William Chow, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, Raffles Family Office; Mr Cliff Ip, Partner of Wings Capital Family Office; Mr Anthony Lau, Deloitte China Tax & Business Advisory Hong Kong Leader.
The event opened with welcome remarks by Mr Mahesh Harilela, Advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation; Family Council Convenor of Harilela Group Ltd.
In his welcome speech, Mr Mahesh Harilela said: “As we look toward the next era of wealth management and cross-border investment, Hong Kong continues to enhance its position as a premier global family office hub. To navigate the evolving global landscape, we rely on the deep insight, international connectivity, and forward-looking optimism that experienced specialists bring to the table.”
In his keynote speech, Mr Olderigo Fantacci highlighted that Hong Kong delivers the absolute best infrastructure and ecosystem a business needs to thrive. "My mission has always been to support Italian companies expanding into Asia and to promote Asian investments into Italy, and Hong Kong is uniquely positioned as the perfect platform for this dual role."
He stated: "Strategically located right at the heart of the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong minimizes travel logistics and connects markets seamlessly. Combined with its remarkably friendly business environment that eases the daily challenges of running a corporate activity, the city genuinely offers an unparalleled advantage for multinational enterprises and cross-border commerce."
Mr Giulio Gubert stated: “Hong Kong’s institutional framework, rooted in the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle, continues to reinforce the Special Administrative Region’s role as a super-connector, linking global markets with Mainland China. Even in a period of geopolitical uncertainty, this positioning remains attractive for Italian companies seeking to expand their footprint in the Greater Bay Area and, more broadly, across Asia.”
The event was fully booked and received strong support and participation from distinguished guests across various sectors. Supporting organisations included Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong; and Italian Chamber of Commerce. Deloitte served as the venue sponsor.
